On a small farm, just outside of the rural town of Delphos in central Kansas, a strange UFO Sighting encounter took place on November 2, 1971. Ronnie Johnson, 16, (with his dog Snowball) was tending to the Johnson family livestock when he witnessed a bizarre "mushroom-shaped" glowing UFO (about the size of a VW bug) descend and hover near a line of trees on the farm. After calling for his parents, the trio observed the UFO rise and ascend into the sky and out of sight. Shocked by the UFO Sighting encounter, the Johnson's then noticed an equally perplexing visage left by the "craft" on the ground: a "glowing ring" approximating the size and shape of the mysterious UFO. They photographed the ring and soon notified the police. The subsequent investigation quickly involved UFO researchers, chief among them being the noted trace researcher Ted Phillips. Analysis of the ring soil demonstrated some unusual properties: the soil resisted water absorption. Considered to be one of the best documented trace cases with intriguing evidence, the "Delphos Encounter" soon became publicized in the popular media and a notable case in UFO lore. What was encountered that day, if anything, is yet unknown. (One interesting side note: Ronnie Johnson, sometime after the event, claimed to have encountered a strange "Wolf Girl" on several occasions and that he had acquired "psychic powers.")
